Academic Excellence - Advanced Placement

Over sixty-nine percent of the graduating Class of 2011 from Gorman left the school with scores of "3" (passing) or higher on at least one Advanced Placement exam taken during their high school tenure. Thirty-one students in the class of forty took 103 AP tests in thirteen different subjects; 68 of the tests earned scores of three or higher. The Gorman AP Excellence Rating of 69.4% is over five times the national average of graduating seniors in the class of 2011 (Texas average: 13.2%; National average is 13.2%).

In the entire high school last year, seventy-one (30%) Gorman high school students took 152 AP exams in eleven different subject areas, including three sophomores, thirty-seven juniors and thirty-one seniors.  Forty eight students earned potential college credit through "passing" ( "3" or higher) scores in May, 2011. Student enrollment in Advanced Placement classes has grown to over 150, up from 43 in 1999-2000 school year.
