Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA)
Dear Parents,
The long-awaited day is here. The Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) applications open now. Detailed information on how to register, what documentation is required, and the link to apply can be found here.
Please note that this is not first come, first served. The application link is open until March 17. Families are given an award based only on their priority rating.
To apply, families will need the following:
Parent and child SSN or ITIN
A completed Form 1040 from either 2024 or 2025
Proof of Texas residency
Child's birth certificate
Documentation of any learning needs (IEP’s, evaluations, etc.)
We are asking all Bishop Gorman families to register for TEFA - even if you do not believe you will qualify for priority funding in this first year. The State Comptroller’s Office will use this initial registration data to determine how much money to budget for school choice in subsequent years. High registration numbers this year are the key to providing the proof of demand needed to expand the program and secure more funding for every Texas family.
Bishop Gorman will host a TEFA application drive on Wednesday, February 25th at 6PM in the library. Please feel free to contact us with any questions in the meantime.
