TX Bank and Trust Board

Bishop Gorman Catholic School seniors Yeabtsega Aytenfisu, Rebecca Berry, Elizabeth Cater, Saanvi Dasgupta, Robby Dowdell, Eli Mahfood, Jade Martins, Catherine McKnight, Joseph Richbourg, Anthony Todd, and Kaela Young were selected to join with other area seniors to serve on the 2023-2024 Texas Bank & Trust Student Board of Directors, a prestigious program recognizing outstanding high school seniors in the community.  These students and their parents were recognized at an Orientation Reception on August 28.  Catherine McKnight was elected to serve as Secretary of this year’s Student Board.

The Student Board program is designed to introduce students to banking and money management at a critical point in their lives, and provide them with the essential economic building blocks to earning, spending, saving, and investing money. This year, the students will test their innovation and business development skills with Investment Quest.  As aspiring “entrepreneurs,” the student board members will have eight months to conceptualize a product, service, or business they could potentially bring to market.

Texas Bank and Trust established the Student Board in 1978. Students were selected based on their grade point average, extra-curricular activities, and after school work activities. Students must submit an essay with their application as well as two letters of recommendation from either a faculty member or administrator to be considered for the program. Students accepted into the 2023-2024 Student Board program were notified in early June.
