There were several standout performers on the hardwood in the area for the 2024-25 high school basketball season.

To highlight those individuals for their efforts, we are announcing the Tyler Morning Telegraph All-Rose Country Boys Basketball Team.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Kavian Bryant, Palestine Westwood, sophomore: He averaged 30.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists for the Panthers. Bryant was named the District 20-3A MVP for the second straight year and earned all-state honors. Bryant is also the All-Rose Country Player of the Year for the second straight year. Bryant is ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in the country for the Class of 2027 by 247 Sports Composite with double-digit offers that include Michigan, SMU, Texas A&M, Florida State, Tennessee and Arkansas. He has basketball offers from Arizona State, California, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Cort Reid, LaPoynor, senior: He averaged 31.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.5 steals per game, while shooting 37.7 percent from 3-point range and 82.2 percent from the free-throw line. Reid missed part of the season with spontaneous pneumothorax, also known as a detached lung. For his career, Reid had more than 2,260 points, more than 740 rebounds, more than 610 assists and more than 320 steals.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Ryder Marsh, Martin’s Mill, junior:He averaged 10.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game as the defensive anchor for the Mustangs, who won the Class 2A Division 2 state championship.

NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR

Roy Rudzinskas, Brook Hill, junior:From Lithuania, the 6-7 forward made his mark for the guard, averaging 15.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. He was named the TAPPS 2-5A Newcomer of the Year.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Greg Jenkins, Martin’s Mill: In his third year as head coach of the Mustangs, the veteran Jenkins led Martin’s Mill to a 36-1 record on the way to capturing the Class 2A Division 2 state championship with a 55-43 victory over Lipan.

FIRST TEAM

Ja’Corian Oes, Tyler Legacy, senior:16.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists; Unanimous 10-6A MVP; Kilgore College signee.

Jaishua Brown, Tyler High, senior:17.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists; Had games of 41, 38 and 32 points this season.

Jak Kinder, Martin’s Mill, senior:18.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals for Class 2A Division 2 state champion; national four-year record holder with 631 3-pointers; LeTourneau University signee.

Archer Schneider, Martin’s Mill, junior: 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds for Class 2A Division 2 state champion.

Mann Scott, Brownsboro, senior:21.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists.

SECOND TEAM

Jake Westbrook, Frankston, senior:19.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists.

Layne Alexander, Bullard, senior:17.5 points, 4.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 steals; 17-4A MVP

Jayden Jones, Tyler Legacy, senior:15.7 points, 4.5 rebounds; Angelina College signee.

Kaden Smith, Canton, senior: 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals.

Caden Rowe, Van, senior: 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 1.0 block; 15-4A Co-Defensive MVP.

THIRD TEAM

Waker Hartman, Tyler HEAT, senior: 16.0 points, 4.2 rebounds for 42-4 team that finished sixth at the national homeschool tournament; Regional MVP and District MVP.

Tyler Lamberth, Bullard, senior: 18.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.2 steals.

Beck Langemeier, Brook Hill, senior:6.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.6 steals; TAPPS 2-5A Offensive MVP.

Marquise Collins, Chapel Hill, junior: 17.9 points, 4.0 assists, 3.3 steals in first season for Bulldogs after coming from Amarillo Tascosa.

Jaylon Miles, Bishop Gorman, junior: 16.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals.
