There were several standout performers on the basketball court by the ladies in the area for the 2024-25 high school basketball season.

To highlight those individuals for their efforts, we are announcing the Tyler Morning Telegraph All-Rose Country Girls Basketball Team.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Allison Rickman, Canton, senior: The University of North Texas signee averaged 21.0 points and 14.0 points per game for the Eaglettes. She was the District 15-4A MVP and an all-state selection. Rickman was selected to play in the TABC All-Star Game. Rickman also won a bronze medal in the shot put in Class 4A at the UIL State Track and Field Meet with a throw of 127-10.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Kara Nixon, Martin’s Mill, sophomore: She averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game to lead Martin’s Mill to its second consecutive state championship.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Ella Hutchens, Lindale, sophomore:She averaged 13.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, 5.2 blocks, 3.1 steals, 4.0 deflections and 2.4 assists per game. In district play, she averaged 13.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 8.0 blocks, 3.0 steals, 4.0 deflections and 2.5 assists per game to be named the District 15-4A Defensive Player of the Year. In a bi-district win over District 16-4A champion Chapel Hill, Hutchens had 17 points, 11 rebounds and 13 blocks.

NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR

Zuzanna Majchrzak, Brook Hill, junior: From Poland, Majchrzak made an immediate impact in her first season with the Guard. She averaged 10.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.3 assists to help Brook Hill reach the state tournament for the first time in program history.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Jereme Hubbard, Brook Hill:Hubbard inherited a program prior to the 2020-21 season that had won just 11 total games the previous two seasons and hadn’t had a winning record since 2013, which is also when it earned the lone playoff victory in program history. The Guard went 6-20 in Hubbard’s first season. The next season got better with a 16-18 mark and a playoff appearance in 2021-22. Then in 2022-23, the Guard posted a winning record, going 20-17 and again reaching the playoffs. In 2023-24 is when the tide really started to turn as Brook Hill went 28-9, won its first playoff game in 11 years — 54-53 in overtime against Lubbock Trinity Christian — and missed making its first trip to the state tournament by one game, falling to Arlington Grace Prep, 54-45, in the regional final. This season, the Guard went 35-7 and reached the TAPPS State Tournament for the first time in program history.

Senoj Jones, Tyler Legacy, senior:16.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals; 10-6A MVP; New Mexico State signee.

Kalyse Buffin, Tyler High, senior:19.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 4.0 steals; 10-5A MVP; Trinity Valley signee.

Bralyah Miller, Tyler High, junior:15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.0 steals.

Hillary Dawson, Malakoff, senior:3,067 career points; Malakoff all-time leading scorer; Scored 43 points in a playoff win over Sabine, leading Malakoff to the regional semifinals; Louisiana Tech signee.

Chloe Howe, Canton, junior: 20.0 points, 11.0 rebounds; 15-4A Offensive MVP.

SECOND TEAM

Hadlee Brown, Winnsboro, sophomore: 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, more than 100 3-pointers made.

Taetum Smith, Hawkins, senior: 18.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 7.5 steals for 33-2 Lady Hawks; Broke school scoring record; 21-2A MVP.

McKenna Wise, Martin’s Mill, sophomore: 10.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks for Class 2A Division 2 state champion.

Sealy Hines, Neches, senior: 16.8 points, 14.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists.

Lila Robertson, Bullard, sophomore:18.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.1 steals, 1.8 blocks, 51 percent on 3-pointers; 17-4A Offensive MVP.

THIRD TEAM

Tayla Morris, Whitehouse, junior:18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals.

Kaitlyn McAdoo, Winnsboro, senior:15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, more than 100 3-pointers made.

Indeya Williams, Brook Hill, junior:12.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.9 steals to help the Guard reach the state tournament for the first time in program history.

Ruthie Mein, Martin’s Mill, senior:10.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists for Class 2A Division 2 state champion.

Sydney Hughes, Palestine, sophomore: 14.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.0 steals, 2.6 steals; District 17-4A MVP.
