The ashes for the Ash Wednesday service come from burning the palms from the previous year's Palm Sunday celebration. Ashes are a biblical symbol of mourning and penance when the custom was to fast, wear sackcloth, sit in dust and ashes and put ashes on one's head.

Today in Religion centers we built The Tower of Babel, loaded Noah's Ark, cleaned the Church and made some beautiful art work.
Jesus used parables to help people visualize and understand a lesson He taught. Today our third graders portrayed The Parable of the Sower, The Prodigal Son, The Good Samaritan and The Lost Sheep.
