Congratulations to Bishop Gorman’s Head Boys Basketball Coach, Kevin Murray! Coach Murray was contacted by J. Gryniewicz with the Dallas Mavericks, who serves as the director of basketball operations of the NBA G league team Texas Legends, and Juwan Brown of player development, to help coach a team at the G-League open tryout on September 9th at Prestonwood in Dallas, TX. This local tryout offers participants the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of Legends coaches, front office staff, President of Operations Spud Webb, and General Manager Del Harris. The number of participants will be limited, and all must meet NBA G league requirements. Players from the tryout will be competing for an invitation to the Legends’ training camp in November. Coach Murray has an extensive background in skills development in East Texas and the DFW area where he has helped develop top players on and off the court. He also serves as the Head Basketball Coach for Bishop Gorman Catholic School and has accomplished much in his coaching career. In 2019 Coach Murray was named the All East Texas Coach of the Year, won a 2019 district championship, and has made a final 4 appearance. Coach Murray on his upcoming opportunity states, “I’m looking at this as an opportunity to serve, connect, and develop as a coach.”
